Good design is obvious. Great design is transparent. You can find this slogan on one of the many walls at Aztec Colour Print, the club’s official branding partner.
Aztec have been heavily involved down the years since becoming a sponsor, and over the years, the relationship between the two parties has grown significantly.
Regular users of the Platinum Club and designers of the match day programme, the Washington based printing company has also been responsible for the aesthetics which add the finishing touch to The Brewery Field’s many additions.
It’s almost impossible to miss some form of Aztec’s work when going to a Spennymoor game. Head down Wood Vue and you will see the Legends Wall, plastered with Spennymoor greats from the past, before moving on to the timeline which showcases the club’s journey from 2009 to the present day.
In fact, they have extended the timeline this summer, highlighting the run to the play-off final in 2019.
Aztec have also produced a wide range of new graphics, including a “Welcome” and a “Home” sign on the doors into the turnstiles on Wood Vue, paying homage to supporters as they enter the ground.
There’s also a new “Welcome to Spennymoor” sign in the dugouts and branding above the tunnel, providing a more modern and slicker look. Everything is now consistently branded, giving a professional finish.
The work didn’t stop there, with Aztec vinyl wrapping our new Sports Bar, control points office and match day office. They also carried out interior work, producing our point of sale walls in the new Moors Store, back bar wall in the Sports Bar and the club crest frosting on the Sports Bar windows.
In short, they have been very busy!
Lee Redford, Managing Director of Aztec Colour Print, said: “We first got involved with Spennymoor Town back in 2013 not long after the club won the FA Vase.
“The club has evolved massively over the seven years we have been involved. We have done a lot of the branding work at the ground over the last six years, with the biggest project being the Legends Wall.
“The work the club is doing off the pitch is fantastic. The obvious one is the developments at the ground, but there is so much else going on which makes it great to be a part of.
“With the amount of work going on, I was approached by Adam Brown regarding a new project which would bring the branding up to the level of the new facilities.
“It’s been amazing to see the work that has gone on over the summer and last few months at the ground. To be able to contribute to the next chapter in The Brewery Field’s history is something we are proud of at Aztec.”
Adam Brown, Director of Marketing and Communications at Spennymoor Town, said:
“There are always time pressures with projects around the ground, but I’ve still thoroughly enjoyed working with Aztec on developing the look and feel of The Brewery Field to match the club’s brand over the last few years.
“The latest work on the exterior and interior of the buildings means we are getting to a place where you can recognise which football club you’re at no matter where in the ground you are.
“There have been few businesses as engaged in our club over the last five years as Aztec. Our organisations are invested in each other’s success and our teams work fluidly on many club projects together. They’re also a major sponsor of the club and a valued partner.
“I’d like to personally thank Lee, Kevin, Geoff, Jack, Stu and the rest of the team on behalf of the football club for their involvement. They have worked passionately and tirelessly on delivering the end product, which I think everyone will agree looks fantastic.”
Branding demands commitment; commitment to continual re-invention; striking chords with people to stir their emotions; and commitment to imagination. It is easy to be cynical about such things, much harder to be successful.”
