Spennymoor finally make a return to The Brewery Field for a league fixture, their first since a 2-1 win over Boston United on November 12th.

Jason Ainsley’s side have had to bide their time and watch as the side’s around them have picked up points, but the visit of Bradford (Park Avenue) represents a chance to get the busy festive period of to a strong start.

Avenue have endured a rocky season to this point, switching managers just three games into the season, with former gaffer Mark Bower making a swift return. Bower was in charge when the two teams met in the play-off eliminator in May, with Moors edging a tight contest by a single goal.

But, he hasn’t been able to guide Avenue up the table, with his side bottom of the National League North heading into Christmas.

They are the league’s lowest scorers and have shipped the most goals, but they will be buoyed by a 2-0 win over play-off contenders Altrincham earlier this month.

Moors have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Jack Earing on a short term loan from FC Halifax Town this week, with the midfielder poised to play his part on Saturday.
