Isiah Cornet Joins Moors On Loan

Jason Ainsley has completed a move to bring Middlesbrough’s exciting young star Isiah Cornet to The Brewery Field on loan until the New Year.

The Moors boss has been working hard behind the scenes to strengthen his squad and his latest breakthrough sees the talented 20-year-old midfielder drafted in from The Riverside Stadium.

Born in France, Cornet joined Middlesbrough in 2018 after a successful trial and he went on to become a regular for the club’s Under-18 side during the 2019/20 campaign.

Comfortable in central midfield or in a more advanced role in support of the attack, the youngster impressed for Boro’s Under-23s in 2020/21 and was rewarded with his first professional contract.

Cornet is a product of French outfit Torcy, the same amateur club for whom Juventus and France World Cup winner Paul Pogba played in his younger days.

“Izzy will give us lots of energy in the midfield area,” explained Ainsley.

“He is an extremely fit lad, as you would expect coming from an elite full-time environment, but he’s also technically very good too.

“We look forward to welcoming him into the Club as he will bring much needed competition in the midfield position, and we thank Middlesbrough for allowing us to look after him.”

He has been handed squad number 31 and, subject to EFL approval, will go straight into contention to make his Moors debut in this afternoon’s National League North meeting with Gloucester City.
