Moors Ladies will look to continue their bright start to the 2023/24 campaign when they host Hull United at The Brewery Field on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
Moors have won both of their opening two games of the season, thumping South Shields 3-0 in the League Cup and earning three points with a thrilling 5-3 win at Hartlepool United last weekend.
Now all eyes are on their first home game in the NERWFL Premier Division, and it’s being staged at The Brewery Field as Billy Shackleton’s side welcome their counterparts from Hull United.
“We’re brand new to this division so Hull aren’t a team we know a lot about,” admitted Shackleton.
“We’re not overly familiar with the players in their squad due to the distance between the clubs, but they held their own in the Premier Division last season so we know they will be a good side.
“It’s a long journey for them to make but I am sure they will enjoy playing on the fantastic pitch at The Brewery Field, so we’re hoping to put in another good performance and continue our excellent record there.”
Shackleton will have a strong squad to choose from on Sunday, though he will have to cope without first choice goalkeeper Sophie Miller and winger Holly Middleton who will both miss out.
Over 400 fans were at The Brewery Field for their last game there at the end of last term as they secured a glorious promotion, and the hopes are that another large crowd will turn out on Sunday.
“Everyone knows how much of a difference it can make to the players if they have a big support behind them,” added Shackleton.
“It’s our first home game at the higher level so we’d love to see as many Moors fans as possible come and cheer us on – it would mean the world to the girls.”
Sunday’s game at The Brewery Field is a 2pm kick-off and admission prices are just £3 for adults and completely free for all Under-12s.
