Isaac Fletcher Signs For Spennymoor Town

Graeme Lee has added further strength to his squad ahead of the National League North run-in by completing the permanent signing of attacking midfielder Isaac Fletcher.

The talented 21-year-old, who is the son of Moors’ 1990s forward Andy, was a free agent following his release from Middlesbrough at the end of 2023 after being on the books at The Riverside Stadium for over a decade.

Having joined Boro as an Under-10s player, Fletcher went on to be key member of the Teessiders’ Under-14s squad which won the National Cup in 2015/16.

His progress through the ranks continued and in 2018/19 he made 12 appearances for Boro’s Under-18s and scored the opening goal in the Club’s North Riding Senior Cup semi-final.

Fletcher fought back from a serious injury to return to action in the 2020/21 campaign during which he scored his share of goals and was also nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for October 2020.

His impressive displays earned him a first call-up to Middlesbrough’s senior squad in early 2021 when he was included for the FA Cup tie away at Brentford.

The youngster then gained further First Team experience when he joined Hartlepool United on loan in January 2022, making 15 appearances and scoring his first senior goal in a win over Colchester United.

“Isaac is another good addition to our squad,” explained Moors boss Lee.

“He is another player who I have worked with in the past during his time at Middlesbrough and then Hartlepool so I know what qualities he can bring.

“He is a forward-thinking player who has the ability to play anywhere across midfield or even in a more advanced position so that versatility will provide us with good options.”

Fletcher has been handed squad number 36 and will go straight into contention to make his Moors debut in Tuesday evening’s National League North fixture at Bishop’s Stortford.
