Event raises more than £18K for young people’s sport

Spennymoor Town’s Night on the Town VIII has been hailed a roaring success after the event boosted the Club’s community fund by more than £18,000.

Having raised £9,250 through the evening’s auction, Spennymoor’s Chief Executive Brad Groves matched the total, taking the charitable sum to £18,500 – a record for the event.

The annual fundraiser took place on Saturday 9th November 2019 and sold out in record time, thanks to the stellar line-up of entertainment.
Club sponsor Ramside Hall hosted the glitzy evening and their stage was graced by noughties pop queen Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions stars Boogie Storm and nationally-renowned comic Steve Rawlings.

The money raised from the auction has been ring-fenced and put towards changing facilities, showers and educational facilities at the Club’s Tudhoe training ground for use by the young people involved with the Club’s academy, Spennymoor Town Youth FC.

The Club has begun talks with Durham County Council to make these developments happen and create something special for youth football in the County.

Tony Wilson, Managing Director of Spennymoor Town, said: “We’re thrilled with the amount our generous guests raised in our auction and it speaks volumes for how much Brad cares for young people in the area that he’s decided to contribute such a significant sum personally.
“Night on the Town proved to be the perfect end to a wonderful Saturday for us, after we managed to beat Southport on the afternoon to take the team into the play-off spots in the National League North.

“Brad and I would like to thank everyone in attendance, who contributed to making it an evening to remember.  We’d also like to thank our Headline Sponsor Census Group and Branding Partner Total Gas and Power.

“This money will be used to improve what we can offer young people in our academy.  We want to become the place for young people in County Durham to fall in love with sport and also provide educational pathways that lead into careers.

“We’re thinking big here, so I’m thrilled that so many people are becoming enthused by our efforts and supporting us.

“Finally, I’d like to thank our Chief Executive, Brad.  It’s no secret that he’s invested a significant sum personally into Spennymoor Town and this just shows once more his passion for helping people in County Durham.”

Night on the Town sold out in just over 10 days, a record for the event, and welcomed 320 people from around the country.

Spennymoor Town host Boston tomorrow night at The Brewery Field in the Vanarama National League North.
Kick-off is at 19:45 and entry is £10 for adults, £8 for concessions, £3 for under 18s and under 10s are free.

Night on the Town gains headline sponsor

It has been a great week in the build up to Night on the Town VIII – the club’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

There are now only five tables left to purchase and the event has gained a headline sponsor for the second year running in Census Group.

The mission-led organisation focuses on changing lives by delivering sustainable, social and economic integration to those furthest from the job market.  They sponsored Night on the Town VII last year and had such a great time, they decided to support the event again.

Brad Groves, Chief Executive of Spennymoor Town, said:

“We’re thrilled that Ian, Kelly and Census Group are back on board again to this year.  We’ve gone all-out to make it a special event and exceed the heights we’ve already reached.  We believe it’s the best line-up we’ve ever had.

“This anticipation has resulted in us selling tables faster than ever.  We’ve only got a handful left, so if any groups or businesses are interested, they need to act fast to secure a spot.”

Night on the Town VIII will take place on Saturday 9th November at Ramside Hall Hotel.  Find out more about the line-up and how to book a table here.

Night on the Town is BACK

Spennymoor Town’s biggest annual fundraising event is back for 2019 and, once again, the line-up has reached new heights.

Noughties superstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor headlines the evening, taking place at Ramside Hall on Saturday 9th November 2019.  She is joined by Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions stars Boogie Storm and critically-acclaimed comedy performer Steve Rawlings.

Compered by North East personality Brian Houshby and featuring a late-night DJ, Night on the Town VIII’s entertainment will go further than ever before to cement the event as not only a memorable fundraiser for the football club, but a highlight of the North East’s corporate entertainment calendar.

As always, the luxury evening will attract people from all over the country and feature a stunning three-course meal; a champagne reception and an auction and raffle with exclusive sporting and experience prizes.

Adam Brown, Marketing and Communications Director at Spennymoor Town, said: “We’ve pushed the envelope further this year and brought in some of the country’s best performing talent.  It’s going to be a memorable evening as always.

“The club is proud of the reputation Night on the Town has built as its own entity.  The support we received last year made it a runaway success and we’re confident we’ll emulate that this year.

“Sophie Ellis-Bextor is obviously a hugely successful recording artist, but also comes highly recommended for live events such as ours because of her professionalism and personality.

“Boogie Storm wowed the nation for a second time last week when they re-appeared on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.  Their performance went to new levels, so we’re thrilled to have them at Night on the Town.  Having worked with them before, I can safely say they’ll blow our guests away.

“I’ve also worked recently with Steve Rawlings, who is a perfect fit for this event.  He’s extremely funny and I’m sure he won’t mind me saying that some of his tricks and stunts mean he’s also a little bit mad!

“All in all, it’s got the makings of an unforgettable evening and I can’t wait to experience it myself.”
