Field of Dreams: Capacity passes 4000 mark

The Brewery Field now boasts a new capacity of over 4000 following terracing work over the summer.

The capacity of the ground has risen to 4300, with 739 covered seats, courtesy of additional terracing work on the Tees Crescent side of the ground.

That builds upon the increase from 2900 to 3150 after the first phase of ground works in 2019.

Following last week’s major announcements regarding the plans for fan zones, a new hospitality suite and a mega screen, details on how the capacity reached a new milestone will be revealed throughout the week.

Aside from the noticeable tweaks and large scale additions, there has been a number of smaller improvements which have all contributed to the growth and quality of the facilities inside The Brewery Field.

Managing Director Tony Wilson sees the increase a huge step moving forward.

He said: “The increase in capacity to over 4000 is another significant milestone for Spennymoor Town.

“Our ground staff were working hard throughout the summer to make improvements to the playing surface, and we have had a range of people in to do jobs around the ground which have contributed hugely to the project.

“With our average attendance rapidly on the rise, the new terracing space on the Tees Crescent side of the ground will allow us to get more fans in for years ahead.”

Work on the Tees Crescent side of the ground has helped increase capacity.
